Transforming Urban Heating: How NEWNTIDE's Air-Source Heat Pumps Modernized Zhao County’s Infrastructure

Introduction: In response to the public's demand for improved living conditions, the Chinese government has prioritized the renovation of aging residential areas. A key component of these initiatives is the modernization of infrastructure, particularly heating systems, to create safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly living spaces. This case study details the transformational approach taken in Zhao County, Hebei, where NEWNTIDE's innovative air-source heat pumps were central to the project's success.

Project Overview: Zhao County faced significant challenges with its outdated and inefficient heating systems, which relied on coal, gas, and oil. These traditional methods were not only costly and unsafe but also environmentally damaging. The renovation project aimed to replace these systems with a sustainable, efficient, and reliable solution to meet the county's harsh winter needs while addressing environmental concerns.

Objectives:

· Enhance the safety and reliability of heating systems in over 40 communities covering 4 million square meters.

· Reduce environmental impact through cleaner energy solutions.

· Improve cost efficiency of heating during the winter months.

Solutions Implemented: NEWNTIDE implemented a comprehensive strategy to overhaul the existing heating infrastructure:

1. Technology Selection: After rigorous testing and review, NEWNTIDE’s air-source heat pumps were selected for their efficiency, stability, and eco-friendliness.

2. Environmental and Economic Impact Assessment: A thorough analysis was conducted to ensure the new system would meet the environmental standards and economic goals.

3. Installation: The project involved the installation of 1,300 NEWNTIDE air-source heat pumps across Zhao County, supported by 4,800 Emerson Copeland™ Scroll ZW286 compressors in over 40 distributed heating stations.

Results:

· Operational Efficiency: The new heating system maintained operational costs at about 13.38 yuan per square meter per heating season, demonstrating significant cost savings.

· Environmental Impact: The use of NEWNTIDE air-source heat pumps led to a 10.3% reduction in severe pollution days and saved approximately 18,000 tons of standard coal per heating season. It also reduced CO2 emissions by 47,000 tons annually.

· Recognition: In August 2020, the project received high praise from industry experts, being recognized as innovative and a leader in both national and international arenas.

Conclusion: The successful implementation of NEWNTIDEs air-source heat pumps in Zhao County exemplifies how innovative technology can dramatically enhance urban heating systems. This project not only achieved significant improvements in environmental sustainability and economic efficiency but also set a benchmark for future clean energy projects in urban settings.
