How is Heat Pump in the U.S. and Ireland

Air-to-water (air source ) heat pumps run on free outside air heat and electricity instead of fossil gas, and are three times more efficient than gas furnaces for heating. Besides heating, the multifunctional heat pumps can act as air conditioners in hot summer and water heaters all year round, serving as a triple-duty appliance.

The technology is widely promoted in replacing traditional energy-driven heaters in new buildings and retrofitting old buildings, and in effect, it reduces the energy bills for people and carbon emissions for the world.

Heat pump sales in U.S. surged past gas furnaces in 2022

In 2022, the total sales of heat pumps in the United States exceeded 4 million, while the sales of gas furnaces beneath 4 million. It was the first time in 2022 that the heat pump`s sales surged past gas furnaces. Moreover, as shown in the figure below, the two have pulled out a significant gap in sales.

This is a good sign that more Americans are installing heat pumps for homes, ready to try new technologies to keep their home warm. Ireland air-to-water heat pump grant increased to €6500/unit

SEAI is Ireland's national sustainable energy authority, working with householders, businesses, communities, and government to create a cleaner energy future. To keep pace with urgent deployment for clean energy application, in 2023, it releases grant support for first-time heat pump installation and home retrofit with a heat pump by adding €3000, making from €3500 up to €6500/unit for the installment of air to water heat pump system.
